What are the dining options available on campus?
Stevens
Dining Service is the
contracted food service for campus, information about meal options
can be found at the dining

What are Duckbills and where can they be used?
Duckbills can
be used on and off-campus to purchase food and a sundry items.
Where can I use Duckbills?

How can I add money to my students account?
You can go to the
online office
and make a deposit.
Where can students park if they are not a senior?
Stevens has made arrangements with the Hoboken Parking Utility
for students to park in a public garage on 2nd and Hudson Street. If students are interested in parking in the
garage they should go to the Student Life Office and complete an application.
Where do students who are residing in Fraternities, Sororities or off-campus housing park their cars?
Students can purchase a Hoboken Parking Decal for $10.00. The student must come to the
Office of Student Life and pick up a letter stating that they are residing in an Apartment off-campus or in
a Fraternity or Sorority House. They also must obtain a letter they are enrolled full-time from the Student
Services Center. They can then proceed to the Hoboken Parking Utility office located in the basement of City
Hall, they can enter from Newark Street, between Washington and Bloomfield Streets. Each calendar
year the student
needs to apply for a new decal.

Does my child need
to purchase the computer from Stevens?
Students are provided with a
laptop when they enroll for the first time.
What happens to my child's computer if
he/she leaves Stevens?
Please review withdrawal policy, which
is specific year the students was expected to graduate:
2004,
2005,
2006,
2007,
2008 &
2009.
What does the Student Activity Fee cover?
The student activity fee is used by the Student Government Association to pay for activities
and events of the 100 plus organizations. The money
is used to cover the cost of operating the Bowling Alley, On-Campus
Movies, club sports, etc.
How does my child apply for Financial Aid?
The Student must complete a
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
annually (after January 1). The online application can be found
at:
http://www.stevens.edu/finaid/links.php. Paper applications
are available in the Student Service Center.
How can I get a PLUS Loan?
You will
need to contact the
Student Service Center
(1.201.216.5555) to request a paper application. For more information please refer to the
Financial Aid Website.
How does a student find a College Work Study Job on campus?
Student can look at the Financial Aid
website for job postings.
How many hours can students work if they are receiving work-study?
During the academic year:
All Freshmen are limited to work 10 hrs per week.
All Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors are limited to 15 hours per week.
Graduate students are allowed 20 hours per week.
During Break Weeks:
Undergrads are allowed 35.0 hrs per week and graduates are allowed 40.0 hours per week.
If my son/daughter received an outside scholarship who should we
mail it to?

What is the new Health service fee?
The fee will cover the service upgrades extend hours in the Health
Center two nights a week to 8 PM, Saturday hours 10am to 2PM, health
kiosk, basic prescription and over-the-counter medications at no cost to
students, as well as other upgrades. If you want more
info please read the memo that was sent to student.
How can I waive the Stevens Health insurance?
Please go to the
University Health
website
and complete the electronic waiver.
How does my child appeal a Stevens parking ticket?
Your student can pick up an appeal in the Student Service Center and submit it to the Student Life Office.
The appeal will be reviewed by a student committee and the student
will be notified in writing of their decision. The committee
meets two times a semester.
How can I get a 1098T form?
You can go to the Financial Aid
website.
Is there a loan that I can borrow
in my name that allows for deferment of payments?
Yes, the
NJClass
loan can be borrowed in the parent's name. The
payments can be deferred until 60 days after graduation, withdrawal, or less than half-time enrollment.
How do I calculate my budget for an AMS/TMS payment plan?
You can go to the Financial Aid
website.
Where does my student find information about consolidating loans?
You can go to the Direct Loan Servicing
website.
How do I appeal my finical aid award?
Please send a one page letter describing the situation to the Student Service Center. A representative from the Financial
Aid Office will contact you by mail to request all documentation necessary to process your appeal.
Where do I apply for the Federal Direct Stafford Loan that was awarded in my student's financial aid package?
If the student has not already completed a Master Promissory Note (MPN), he/she will be notified by the Financial Aid Office.
The MPN can be found online on the Financial Aid
website.
Should I automatically send all of my tax documents each year to the Financial Aid Office?
No. You only need to send your tax information to the Financial Aid Office if it is requested of you.
What is Co-op?
Cooperative Education ("Co-op") is a structured educational strategy integrating classroom studies with learning through
employment related directly to the student’s academic major and career goals
How do students join co-op?
All students majoring in Engineering and Science are invited to attend informational meetings during the first semester of
their freshman year. Freshmen officially join the program at the beginning of their second semester.
When do students begin their first work term?
Students can begin working early as the summer after they complete their first year at Stevens.
Where do students live while on co-op?
Students may live on campus or at home during their co-op work terms. Students who are studying full-time have priority
when it comes to campus housing. If there are more requests for rooms than space, co-op students whose permanent residence
is a reasonable commuting distance to their co-op jobs will be asked to live at home during the work term.
How will co-op affect scholarships and financial aid?
Co-op will not affect any academic-based scholarships that have been awarded. As need-based financial aid is dependent
upon the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that you submit each Spring semester, co-op earnings may affect
financial aid packages in future years. FAFSA forms should be completed for the entire academic year -- even if the student
is scheduled to be in school for only one semester the following year.
Can students take vacation during their co-op term?
Students may take a vacation before the beginning or at the end of their co-op term, but not during their assignment.
If my student is on Co-op, can they still participate in the Scholars Program? Study Abroad? Varsity Sports?
Yes, students are able to participate in the Scholar Program, Varsity Sports and Study Abroad while involved with Co-op.
