State Agencies

New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology- supports university research projects and centers as well as commercial technology ventures and technology transfer to promote science and technology capabilities in the State and an educated technical workforce.

New Jersey Space Grant Consortium (NJSGC)  

The New Jersey Space Grant Consortium (NJSGC) was established in 1991 with the broad objective of advancing aerospace education, research and development in New Jersey through the following programs:

  • An Innovative Partnership Program to foster high caliber aerospace research involving academic institutions and industry.
  • A Summer Fellowship Program involving industry and academic research programs for undergraduate students with a specific goal to enhance the participation of women and under-represented minority students.
  • A K - 12/Outreach Program to expose children, especially minority and disadvantaged children, to the stimulus and excitement of aerospace early in their education.

The NJSGC Mission

  • To build research infrastructures and capabilities in aerospace-related/high technology fields.
  • To improve mathematics, science, technology and engineering education at all levels, kindergarten through graduate school.
  • To foster partnerships among industry, government and private entities to meet Space Grant goals.
  • To enhance public science literacy

  • Burroughs Welcome Fund- biomedical science and education
  • Keck Foundation- primarily supports the areas of medical research, science, and engineering.
  • Link Foundation - mastery of air and sea, and to the development of conservation of energy resources
  • Pew Charitable Trusts - supports nonprofit activities in the areas of culture, education, the environment, health and human services, public policy and religion.
  • Sloan Foundation - broad interests in science and technology including education and careers, standard of living and economic performance, national and civic issues.

Commerical Sources

Community of Science (COS) is a comprehensive source of funding information and provides a notification service customized to faculty members' fields of interest. It is available through individual or institutional subscription.
