 One of the guiding philosophies of the School of Systems and Enterprises is encapsulated in our Open Academic Model. The intent of this model is to blur the boundaries between academia, industry and government by conducting academically rigorous, yet industrial relevant research and education. We seek to bring a fresh perspective to industry and government in an executable form, such as a specific method, tool or template. In addition, we want to bring industry and government reality into academia in the form of a researchable problem, guest speakers and case studies. To accomplish these ends, we have established and are expanding a broad network of partnerships and alliances: with companies in the defense, aerospace and commercial sectors; with defense and civil government agencies; and with other academic institutions in the U.S. and around the world.
