In the spring of 2001, Stevens first Systems Engineering modular course was conducted in partnership with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and Lockheed Martin MS2, at the Defense Acquisition University in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.  In the summer of 2001, the first regional course was sponsored by ITT in Clifton, NJ, followed by the first on-campus course that fall.  In 2003, the first private online course was sponsored by IBM Global Services and the first public online course was offered via Stevens’ online division WebCampus.

Originating from the tremendous success and growth of Stevens Systems Design and Operational Effectiveness (SDOE) program, and the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, Stevens announced the founding of the School of Systems and Enterprises on March 12, 2007.
Since its inception in the early 2000’s, student enrollment has grown significantly. The School of Systems and Enterprises is now home to the largest Systems Engineering program in the United States.
