Subject:   Update on Winter Storm Jonas: Stevens is Open and Resuming Normal Operations on Tuesday January 26

  • Stevens will open tomorrow, Tuesday January 26 and classes will be held.
  • The Red Shuttle Line has resumed service today (Monday) on a Saturday schedule.  Due to difficult road conditions, there may be delays.
  • Stevens’ shuttle service will resume on all lines tomorrow. There may be delays due to road conditions. Please be patient and allow extra time to get to campus.
  • All services including dining are resuming normal operations and hours tomorrow.

Subject:   Update on Winter Storm Jonas: Stevens Closed and Classes Cancelled Tomorrow, Monday January 25

The Stevens’ Emergency Management Team is monitoring the aftermath of the storm and snow removal on campus.  As you know, Hoboken experienced a record snowfall and every effort is being made to clear the paths and parking lots on campus.  The City of Hoboken is also working to clear the roads.

Please note:

  • Stevens will be closed tomorrow and classes are cancelled in order to ensure the safety of our community.  We expect to be open on Tuesday.
  • Stevens’ Shuttle service is suspended at this time.  If road conditions improve in Hoboken, we may have the Red Line shuttle running later in the day tomorrow.  Stay tuned.
  • Pierce Dining Hall in the Howe Center will be open tomorrow from 8am until midnight  (regular hours).  All other dining locations will reopen on Tuesday.
  • The Schaefer Athletic and Recreation Center will be open tomorrow from noon until 11 pm.
  • The Library will be open tomorrow from 10 am until 2 am.

Subject:   Update on Winter Storm Jonas:  Hoboken Travel Ban Lifted

The City of Hoboken has lifted the travel ban.  Please try to stay off the roads so that snow removal can continue. The City has urged pedestrians not to walk in the street for their own safety. For updates, please visit http://www.hobokennj.org/

The Stevens’ Emergency Management Team is monitoring the storm and snow removal continues on campus.  It is estimated that Hoboken received 26 inches of snow.

  • Pierce Dining Hall in the Howe Center is open from 9am until 12 am; all other dining locations are closed today.
  • The Schaefer Athletic and Recreation Center and the Library are closed today.
  • Stevens’ Shuttle service is suspended.

Subject:  Update on Winter Storm Jonas: Hoboken State of Emergency and Travel Ban Remain in Effect

The City of Hoboken State of Emergency and Travel Ban remain in effect.  Driving is prohibited except for public safety and essential services (government, utilities, medical personnel).  The City has urged pedestrians not to walk in the street for their own safety and so snow removal crews can properly clear streets and emergency personnel can continue to respond effectively. Subject:  Update on Winter Storm: Hoboken State of Emergency and Travel Ban

Due to the winter storm, the City of Hoboken has declared a State of Emergency and Travel Ban.  Driving is prohibited except for public safety and essential services (government, utilities, medical personnel).  Vehicles parked on snow routes are subject to towing.  For more information, please visit http://www.hobokennj.org/2016/01/state-of-emergency-travel-ban-in-effect/

We expect heavy snowfall and high winds to continue throughout the day.  Stevens’ Emergency Management Team continues to monitor the storm and the condition of the campus.  Snow removal continues in full force on campus, however, there is still much work to do to keep up with the snowfall.  We ask that you stay inside as much as possible.  If you do go out during the storm, please be careful.  High winds may cause downed power lines, tree branches and flying debris.

  • Today’s classes are cancelled.
  • Pierce Dining Hall in the Howe Center is open from 8 am to 8 pm on Saturday; all other dining locations are closed.
  • The Schaefer Athletic and Recreation Center and the Library are closed.

Subject:  Update on Winter Storm: Saturday classes are cancelled

As you know, a winter storm is approaching our region.  Significant snow and high winds are expected.  Stevens’ Emergency Management Team continues to monitor the storm’s progress and will continue to provide you with updates.

Please note:

  • Saturday classes are cancelled.
  • Undergraduate and Graduate admissions events scheduled for Saturday have been cancelled.
  • The Schaefer Athletic and Recreation Center will be closed on Saturday.
  • The Library will be closed on Saturday.  Regular hours will resume on Sunday.
  • Shuttle service is suspended for Saturday.  Service will resume on Sunday according to the regular schedule.
  • Pierce Dining Hall will be open from 8 am to 8 pm on Saturday; all other campus dining locations will be closed on Saturday.  Stevens Dining facilities will resume their regular schedule on Sunday.
  • If you have a car on campus, please review today’s email from Chief Griffin.  Most parking lots must be cleared by 9 pm tonight.  See the email for details.
  • Please exercise caution if you go out during the storm.  High winds may cause downed power lines and flying debris.
