Vice President for Facilities and Campus Operations
Robert Maffia joined Stevens in September 2013 as Vice President for Facilities and Campus Operations, after a very successful career in facilities, design and operations in several large, prestigious higher education and corporate organizations. Over his 30-year career, Maffia has led facilities management and design operations as well as construction and property management, both domestic and global.
Before coming to Stevens, Maffia spent five years as Senior Director of Construction Management at New York University Langone Medical Center. There he led the planning, design, construction and operations for several major projects.
At Columbia University, Maffia was responsible for overseeing all operations, building maintenance, energy management, infrastructure, custodial operations and support management for the two million square foot medical school and research facility.
Maffia also held leadership positions in construction management at J.A. Jennings Co. and in the corporate sector with Lehman Brothers and AIG Realty, where he was Vice President of Global Real Estate and Director of Facilities Management, respectively.
In addition, Maffia served as an adjunct professor in construction project management at Polytechnic Institute of New York University.
Maffia holds a B.E. in mechanical engineering from Pratt Institute and a MBA from Columbia University. He also earned his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from Rutgers University.
