Physical Plant
Mission Statement
The mission of the Physical Plant Department is to provide a safe, functional and comfortable environment in support of all authorized campus activities. In order to accomplish this mission, in conjunction with Institute goals and objectives, the Physical Plant Department is divided into functional groups.
Design and Construction
Project Manager John Lanza supervises all significant capital construction activity on campus. These include the renovations of classrooms, offices, laboratories and equipment. John acts as liaison between Stevens and external entities such as architects, engineers and code officials. He is the principal contact with the end user and the community during construction and has the responsibility for the project budget and schedule.
Safety and Environment
Jane Cannavale, Safety and Environment Officer, insures that the Institute is complying with safe work practices, fire safety requirements and environmental regulations. Many of these issues are governed by entities such as OSHA, EPA and state and local agencies. She runs the Campus Safety Committee meetings, performs evacuation drills, prepares regulatory reports and trains various members of the community.
Custodial Services
Facilities Manager Steven Mulvihill manages the daily operations of the custodial contract. Steven is the main contact for Stevens Institute of Technology for all custodial related issues as well as the recycling program on campus who can be reached by phone at x3359 or email at smulvihi@stevens.edu.
UGL-DTZ Services is responsible for performing the cleaning and custodial function in all campus buildings Tony Pisercia is the account manager who can be reached by phone at x8018. General comments and inquires can also be submitted via email at spazmino@stevens.edu.
Director's Office
Norman Forster, Director of Maintenance, coordinates and supervises department services to support the real property needs of the Institute. The director's office is involved with the planning stages of capital projects, budgetary control, prioritization and the partitioning of assignments, coordinates and supervises the maintenance needs of the Institute including the Custodial Services.
