 Academics *Semester 1: Meet with your faculty mentor: Discuss career objectives. *Early Semester 3: Get ready to file your Study Plan. Still unsure about your major? See your OCD Advocate/Dean's Office. *Reassess appropriate course of study and career goals based on academic performance.   
*Semester 7: File Application for Candidacy to insure appropriate course selections to meet graduation requirements.
   *Be an active member on team-related projects and/or research.  *Engineering majors: November: Attend Advising Fair and file Study Plan  *Join the appropriate professional organization for your major.  *Identify faculty members to be your references.
   *Form or join a study group.  Be sure you know collaboration policy on each assignment.  *Learn how academic performance relates to career opportunities and graduate/ professional school admissions.  Set an appropriate goal.  *Begin planning for the graduate/ professional school application process.  *Mail graduate/professional school applications and complete financial aid forms on time.
   *Seek assistance from the Academic Support Center as needed.  Don't wait.  *Look into options to add a minor, double major, graduate certificate, or graduate degree.  *Check dates for graduate/ professional school admissions tests.  
   *Undecided? Meet with your faculty mentor/OCD advocate/Dean's Office to discuss options.  *Make a special effort to get to know some professors.    
   *Non-engineering majors: Semester 2: Attend Spring Advising Fair and file Study Plan

 Career *Attend Career Development Internship Workshops. *Develop your technical skills by obtaining meaningful experience in your field of interest through a co-op, summer internship, or undergraduate research project. *Apply for co-ops or internships that are best aligned with your post-graduation career goals.  Work closely with appropriate staff to access meaningful opportunities. *Early in Semester 7: Meet with your OCD advocate to assess your needs/goals for graduating student services. Get a plan in place as soon as possible.  Be ready for the September Career Fair.
  *Talk with faculty and other students about different majors and careers. *Meet with a Career Development counselor to assist in identifying and preparing for your personal career path. *Attend the December and March Career Fairs to access summer internship opportunities. *Assess your career-related strengths, skills, and values.
  *Attend Co-op Orientation Meetings as the first step to joining the program. *Attend Career Development Seminars to meet professionals in your field of interest and learn about recruitment and interviewing. *Semester 6: Attend "Getting Ready for Senior Year" workshop for Juniors.   Register with OCD to develop a plan to reach your post-graduation career goals. *Analyze and summarize experience gained from previous years. Update resume, if needed.
  *Attend Career Development Workshops to begin identifying a career path. *Sign up for the Externship Program through the OCD and shadow an alumnus/a at work over Winter Break.  *Semester 6: Schedule a meeting with your Career Development advocate to review your resume for inclusion in your class Resume Book. *Be able to verbally communicate your accomplishments, skills, and values.  Schedule a mock interview, if needed.

*Sign up for the Externship Program through the OCD and shadow an alumnus/a at work over Winter Break. *Attend the December and March Career Fairs to network with corporate recruiters. *Attend Career Development - Employer Sponsored Workshops on Interviewing Techniques.
*Register for and use CastlePointCareers on a daily basis during the recruitment process.

*Attend the September Career Fair to interview for full-time opportunities exclusively for the graduating class.

*Network with professors, on-campus speakers, family, and friends to develop prospective opportunities.




*Stay in contact with your OCD advocate throughout your recruitment process and share both your progress and your concerns.
        *Report your post-graduation plans to the Office of Career Development prior to graduation.

*Semester 7: Develop a financial budget and evaluate future financial responsibilities.  Check how graduating from college will affect your health insurance coverage.
  *Find out about campus clubs and organizations and consider joining a group that interests you.
*Consider applying for a leadership position on campus.
*Begin to develop a list of professional and academic references.
*Remember, transitioning from undergraduate student to young professional can be stressful.  Reach out to a staff member if you have concerns.
