What is the Graduation Festival?
The Graduation Festival combines students, faculty, staff, parents, and guests in a celebration of our soon-to-be graduates!
The Graduation Festival will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 5–8 p.m. on the Stevens campus.
Spread across the lawns of Stevens, tents and tables are setup from Walker Gym to Hoxie House where food, live music, and the 4 schools are represented, along with the departments from Student Development, Alumni Association, and much more. Giveaways and photo opportunities abound, and if it rains, all the fun is just moved inside to the Canavan Arena and Walker Gym. All welcome, with limited parking available in the 8th Street Parking Lot.
When is the Commencement Ceremony?
The Commencement Ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ and is scheduled to last approximately 3 hours. The doors of the Prudential Center will be open for guests at 7:30 a.m.
How do I get to the Prudential Center?
Prudential Center is only 3 blocks away from Penn Station, Newark, with access by NJ Transit and PATH. Parking lots are available near the Prudential Center. Click here for directions to the center and more information on pre-paid parking. Buses will be available from campus and further details will be posted in late March.
Do I need a ticket to attend the Commencement Ceremony?
Yes, tickets are required for guests to enter the Prudential Center. Commencement tickets will be available online starting in early March. A link to the box office site will be posted here at that time.
What can I bring into the Prudential Center?
You may bring small bags, but all bags will be searched at the door by the Prudential Center House Staff. The Prudential Center strictly prohibits balloons at any of their events, including graduation ceremonies. Please do not bring gift balloons with you, otherwise you will not be allowed to enter the venue.
Can I take photographs at the Commencement Ceremony?
Photos and video may be taken from the guest seating areas. Guests will not be permitted in the graduate seating or stage areas or in the aisles and stairways.
Stevens has contracted with a special event photographer to take several color photos of each graduating student as his/her diploma is being presented. Approximately one month after the ceremony, the studio will email proofs and ordering information to each graduate to their Stevens email address that is on file with the Registrar’s Office. Please make sure your email address is correct, otherwise there will be a delay in getting your proofs. Will I be able to purchase Stevens merchandise at the Prudential Center?
Yes, the Stevens Campus Bookstore will be having a Stevens memorabilia sale on the day of commencement ceremonies at the Prudential Center. In addition, the on-campus store will be open during Graduation Festival on May 19, 2015.
Can I purchase refreshments at the Prudential Center?
Yes, the main concourse includes a food court which will be available prior to and during the ceremony.
Are there restaurants near the Prudential Center?

Does the Prudential Center provide wheelchair and handicapped access?
All entrances to the Prudential Center are wheelchair and handicapped accessible. There are some areas that include wheelchair viewing areas. The Prudential Center and Stevens ushers will help guests to these appropriate areas.
Will I be able to see the Commencement Ceremony online?
For guests who cannot attend the ceremony in person, Stevens will stream the ceremonies over the internet. The link will be made available on May 20th on the Commencement home page.
How do I obtain an Invitation Letter for International guests?
If you have guests traveling from outside the U.S., and they require a letter of invitation, you may write an Invitation Letter. You can access the form at www.stevens.edu/isss/forms.
Where can I obtain information on local hotel accommodations?
Stevens has several local hotels that we have negotiated special Stevens pricing. Stevens provides this information to assist you in locating overnight accommodations.
