In order to complete the application process to Stevens, prospective students must complete the following:
Although not required, a campus visit and tour is an extremely helpful part of the application process. Most applicants find this to be essential and benefit from visiting Stevens. You can either schedule an appointment to meet with an admissions representative and tour the campus, or register online for a Visit Day event.
Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement from our office indicating that your application was received. This acknowledgement may include a request for information that the University needs in order to complete the application process, as outlined in the requirements above.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will notify you of its admission decision regarding your completed application by mail. See the Application Timeline for a guide to decision notification dates.
Transfer credits will be evaluated upon acceptance to Stevens. At that time, we will require that you send all course descriptions and/ or course syllabi. When sending a college catalog, please mark and highlight all courses to evaluate. Please read all information related to credit evaluations to fully understand the process.
Stevens awards transfer credit by matching your courses with equivalent Stevens courses. The content of a catalog description can usually assist us in determining whether your course satisfy Stevens' academic standards. However, the more information we have, the better chance you have of receiving credit. Ask your instructor or department head to provide you with a course outline. Course outlines are highly recommended for mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, statistics, dynamics, and natural science courses.
We do not accept previously transferred credits from your last college; evaluations are done with respect to each individual college you attended.
An official AP score report is required for any AP credit. Read more about transferring advanced placement credits.
Students transferring from a college(s) outside of the United States must provide and certify the number of lab hours per week and the number of weeks each course met per term. All documentation (including course descriptions) must be translated. If you have any questions regarding transferring credits from a college(s) outside of the U.S., please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 1-201-216-5194, or by email.
Stevens’ Office of International Student and Scholar Services issues I-20s to international students once they have been accepted, official TOEFL/IELTs scores have been received, and proof of financial support for one year’s study at Stevens has been received. This is a U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) requirement. Stevens cannot issue an I-20 without this proof, which includes a completed Financial Verification Form or an INS Affidavit of Support (I-34) accompanied by supporting bank documentation (see Financial Verification Form). Your documents must be notarized, in U.S. dollars, and no older than six months. You will receive your I-20 approximately two weeks after your acceptance to Stevens.
You are not required to send your financial documentation with the rest of your application materials. However, if you are accepted into Stevens and did include your financial documents, you will receive your I-20 sooner than if you did not include them.
