The Admissions Interview is a required portion of the Stevens application process. Read below to find answers to some of the most common asked questions regarding the interview process at Stevens.
An admissions interview is a one‐on‐one meeting between a prospective student and a member of the Undergraduate Admissions staff.
Yes, an admissions interview is required for all applicants to Stevens Institute of Technology.
At Stevens, we believe a personal interview is another critical step in the application process. This meeting gives us an opportunity to get to know you and learn more than what is on your application. Through the interview, we hope to understand more about your academic background and your interests in and out of the classroom. We also feel that the interview is a great way for you to learn more about Stevens, and gives you an opportunity to ask questions directly to a member of our Admissions staff.
A member of the Admissions staff will conduct the interview, which is comprised of a series of questions designed to spark an interactive dialogue. Through this dialogue, the counselor intends to learn more about the prospective student and assess if the student will be a good fit for Stevens.
The first part of the interview is dedicated to a one‐on‐one exchange between the prospective student and a member of the Admissions staff. However, parents are invited to join the counselor and student after the actual interview is conducted. This is a great opportunity for parents to ask questions to learn more about Stevens and the application process.
The interview itself will take anywhere from 30‐60 minutes. The length of the interview will vary depending on the number of questions asked by the student and parents.
When you schedule the personal interview, you should also consider scheduling a campus tour to get a feel for life at Stevens. The tours take approximately 60 minutes and allow you to see our cutting‐edge classrooms and laboratories, athletic facilities, residence halls, and more – all with first-hand information from current students.
Prospective students should keep in mind that this is a formal interview and another way we determine the fit between the student and Stevens. Therefore, we recommend business casual dress for the interview.
We understand that sometimes it isn’t possible to visit campus as part of your application process. While we still strongly encourage you to visit campus for an in‐person interview, if you live outside a 250‐mile radius of Stevens, we will work with you to arrange a phone interview with a member of the Admissions staff. International students may choose to interview via phone or Skype. Contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to schedule your interview at 800-STEVENS.
