The admissions process at Stevens seeks to ensure that you have an accurate picture of the opportunities and challenges offered by a Stevens education, while also giving the Admissions committee enough information to assess your potential for success.
High School Record:
The quality of your work in high school is an accurate indication of your preparation for college. Your record should show satisfactory performance in the following areas, depending upon your chosen major of study:
College Entrance Examinations:
The College Entrance Examinations tests a different set of abilities and gives us an even better sense of your academic strengths. The required examinations include the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT). The SAT II is not required for admission*.
* Accelerated pre-med and pre-dentistry applicants must take the SAT I as well as two SAT II exams in Math Level I or II, and Biology or Chemistry. Accelerated Law applicants must take two SAT II exams of their choice.
Personal Interview:
A personal interview is required for all applicants. Interviews are held in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on the 8th floor of the Howe Center. If you live further than 250 miles from Stevens or cannot come to campus for an interview, we ask that you set up an appointment for a phone interview with a counselor.
English Language Requirement:
All students must be capable of successfully completing a humanities course which is required each semester. For that purpose, English language competence is generally indicated by:
In some cases, students may not be allowed to enroll in humanities classes or in other classes at Stevens until a satisfactory level of English language ability has been achieved. Students are advised to seek early clarification of these requirements, if necessary, preferably no later than May 1st for fall semester enrollment.
Two Letters of Recommendation: One letter should come from a teacher (preferably a math or science teacher); the other should come from a guidance counselor.
