Collaborative Process Management: Integrating Workflow and Group Support
Originated from the body of work on office automation in the 1960s, both group support systems and workflow systems have made great strides and become significant disciplines in their own rights. Recently, researchers have begun to merge the two system types into a new kind of system, namely collaborative process management (CPM) systems. However, there is little work in the literature on how group support systems and workflow systems could or should be integrated. In this presentation, we examine literature in both areas and propose a conceptual model for COM that may serve to guide future research and development in this emerging area for research and practice.
