Student Government Association
From SGAWiki
The Student Government Association (more commonly referred to as the SGA) is an operational entity at Stevens. It administrates the Recognized Student Organizations, and is meant to act as the "voice" of the undergraduate students in internal Institute matters. Technically, the SGA operates under the sufferance of the Office of Student Life but has primarily been given great freedom to do as it chooses.

[edit] Powers
[edit] Recognition of New RSOs
The SGA may pass a resolution recognizing a new RSO. According to the SGA Constitution such an organization must also be approved by the Faculty Committee on Student Affairs, but this has been ignored for several years, as it appears that committee has dissolved.
[edit] Student Activity and Special Project Fees
The Student Activity Fee (usually abbreviated as SAF) and the Special Project Fee (also as the Capital Improvements Fee or CIF) are set by the SGA. Changes to either of these fees can not be made within the last three weeks of a school year. Changes must also be submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval.
