The Doctor of Philosophy degree is the pinnacle of engineering education. Beyond technical expertise, a PhD exemplifies a commitment to lifelong learning and the pursuit of knowledge. Part time students are expected to become part of the Stevens and the SEEM/SDOE communities by attending seminars, the Conference on Systems Engineering Research, research day’s, etc. Also PhD students are encouraged to become active in their relevant technical societies, publish papers, etc. Simply taking courses and writing a dissertation is not sufficient to demonstrate the commitment to warrant the award of the PhD degree.
