Undergraduate Research

Several opportunities for Mechanical Engineering undergraduates to participate in faculty research programs are available at Stevens, including through the Stevens Scholars Program and the Technogenesis Scholars Program. Each undergraduate summer program has an exhibition in the Fall, open to the public and student body, where the students present the results of their summer research.

Additional opportunities (some paid) for undergraduates to conduct research with faculty may also be available. Stevens Mechanical Engineering Undergraduates interested in pursuing such research opportunities should review the ME Department Research web page and individual faculty web pages to identify the appropriate faculty working in their area of interest.

Undergraduates may also attend the weekly Department of Mechanical Engineering seminar series, where researchers from industry and academia discuss state-of-the-art research topics being pursued. Past industry speakers have included the Former Director of the National Aerospace Laboratories (India), the Chief Technology Officer from the Zyvex Corporation (a leading nanotechnology company), researchers from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, the NJ Board of Public Utility, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), United Technologies Research Center, Abbott Laboratories, Exxon Mobil, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Alcatel-Lucent, and Sandia National Labs.
