Dr. Ritter received his BChE from City University of New York, then spent 10 years in Research and Development making solid propellant rockets and designing agitation equipment for the Navy, United Aircraft and Mixing Equipment Co. He then went back to graduate school at The University of Rochester and received his MS and Ph.D. in ChE. His thesis was applied in system dynamics, optimization and control. Dr. Ritter then went to work for DuPont in their photo Products Division in control of chemical processes. After a year at DuPont, he came to Stevens as an Assistant Professor in the ChE department, where he taught process control and transport. After about 7 years, he left for UMD-New Jersey Medical School where he spent about 20 years in the departments of Medicine and Pharmacology and Physiology doing research in Blood-tissue mass transfer in hearts and lungs and teaching in the Medical, Dental and Graduate Physiology courses. He was the course director of the medical physiology course from 1998 - 2002.
