2001 SAE AeroEast Competition
Our Plane's Name: Bad Idea #V

Project Overview:

The goal of our project is to design, build, test, and evaluate an aircraft of low weight and high lift to compete in the SAE Aero East 2001 Competition. The design of the aircraft was optimized to the competition constraints laid out in the SAE Aero East 2001 Competition Rules had to be kept in mind. These rules included a maximum planform area of 1200 sq. in., a minimum cargo volume of 300 cu. in., and one of two specified engines. With these constraints in mind, by following a systematic design approach the project team was able to design a plane that will be able to lift 30 pounds of competition weight and weigh 8 lbs.
