Triton is an exploratory endeavor that serves two goals: Continue the legacy of the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle project at Stevens Institute of Technology, and Enter the Third International Autonomous Underwater Vehicle competition hosted by AUVSI Triton is our third venture into the competition following last year's AUV, the Poseidon. This year, the AUV project was approached with a radical new design combined with the state of the art and yet relatively inexpensive technology. This project involves a multi-disciplinary team consisting of ten students whose educational backgrounds include mechanical, computer, and electrical engineering. The ME (Mechanical Engineer) team is responsible for the following areas: propulsion, steering and hull design. The ECE (Electrical and Computer Engineer) team is responsible for the sensory and guidance systems.
