Program Overview
The Stevens Pharmaceutical Manufacturing program is designed to provide you with a solid foundation and thorough understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices in processes, facilities, validation, and project management. At Stevens, you learn and interact with our outstanding industry-based faculty, who bring valuable knowledge, depth, and real-world experience to the classroom. They teach you a thorough science-based understanding of pharmaceutical materials, and current and cutting-edge manufacturing processes in the context of global regulatory requirements, so you will be equipped to be a valued contributor to the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry. The interdisciplinary Pharmaceutical Manufacturing program is administered by the department of Mechanical Engineering.

Unique PME Program Opportunities
Pharmaceutical Research Group: The Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Research Group is working on a number of current technology projects, and presents its findings at Stevens Graduate Poster Presentations. They also organize periodic informational seminars featuring guest speakers. Any PME student is encouraged to submit research ideas and become involved in this group.
Pharmaceutical Graduate Co-op Program: After completing two semesters, full time PME students can apply for the Graduate Co-op program. Accepted applicants attend a series of Workplace Preparation Meetings conducted by the Office of Cooperative Education including Resume Writing, Interviewing
Techniques, Making the Most of Your Co-op Assignment, and Ethics in the Workplace. They are then eligible for placement in a temporary, full-time paid position for one semester plus the summer at a participating pharmaceutical company where they will gain valuable industry experience directly related to the PME academic program.
Pharmaceutical Internships: Full time PME students can also participate in part time and/or unpaid internships in the pharmaceutical industry in order to gain valuable experience.
Optional Practical Training (OPT) after graduation: International PME students can obtain OPT authorization upon graduation, which allows paid employment in a position related to the field of study for up to 12 months (and in some cases extended to 29 months) after completing the Master's degree. Teaching Assistants (TA) Positions: Each semester, there are a few, highly competitive, paid TA positions available to full time, upper level PME students. Duties include assisting with course preparation, grading, and special projects directed by the PME professors.
