The School of Engineering and Science has a faculty with strong interest and experience in the professional world and both technical and managerial experience with civil structures and systems. Stevens is able to meet the needs of regional organizations in some circumstances with customized classes developed to an employer's specifications. Stevens emphasis on academic entrepreneurship has sparked the development of valuable IP on campus, which the university stewards into the market through the Office of Enterprise Licensing and Development. These initiatives support technology licensing to commercial entities and steward venture capital investments.

Stevens renowned research centers and laboratory facilities are recognized by the National Security Agency, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Homeland Security for their critical contributions to our nation's security and the safety of developing technologies. Atlantic Center for the Innovative Design and Control of Small Ships (ACCeSS) industry partners include Lockheed Martin and AMSEC. The Center for Secure and Resilient Maritime Commerce (CSR), along with the University of Hawaii's National Center for Islands, Maritime, and Extreme Environments Security (CIMES), constitute the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) National Center of Excellence for Maritime, Island and Extreme/Remote Environment Security (MIREES). Stevens Senior Design program matches our proficient students with sponsored projects that provide a mutual benefit to both student teams and sponsor organizations.
