Integrated Product Development M.Eng. Degree

Quality, Reliability, & Efficiency

Engineers in industry and government today are required to respond to rapid changes in technology and social needs with leaner budgets and more efficient processes. Utilizing the School of Engineering and Science's distinguished faculty, the Integrated Product Development program provides a broad introduction to engineering management issues with a deep focus on the latest technical breakthroughs in materials, computerized analysis, manufacturing techniques, and design theory. As an innovative leader in core engineering education, the School is able to equip today's professionals with the skills to lead in the high-tech world of tomorrow.

Master's Curriculum and Engineering Tracks

The Integrated Product Development Master's curriculum includes four core courses that establish the methodologies and tools required for effective engineering design and product management. Beyond the core curriculum, five tracks are available for focused instruction targeted for structured professional development. Available concentrated tracks in IPD currently are:

  • Armament Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Manufacturing Technologies
  • Systems Reliability and Design

Research in Focus

Multiscale Engineering and Innovation

Dr. Constantin Chassapis studies the areas of Integrated Product and Process Development, knowledge based system development, automation, remote sensing and control, and virtual and remote experimentation. He was recently awarded $3M in NSF funding for work involving a research project in multiscale engineered systems that provides fellowships to ten Stevens doctoral students per year. The fellows' research addresses a variety of issues related to multiscale engineered systems, with additional focus on engineering design, innovation, and inventiveness.

Interdisciplinary Excellence and Opportunity

As an interdisciplinary Master's program, Integrated Product Development gives students a distinct opportunity to cross disciplines in order to expand or deepend their expertise in the engineering fields. Students may use their professional experience and educational backgrounds as a foundation for exploring new disciplines, or gain a robust understanding of a field in which they are currently employed.
