Researchers at the Center for Maritime Systems (CMS) of Stevens Institute of Technology have deployed a Nortek ATON System in NY Harbor. The ATON System provides real-time current profile measurements from a standard Coast Guard Aid-to-Navigation (ATON) buoy. The current velocity data are transmitted to CMS at Stevens through a CDMA IP modem. The data will be used to help validate HF RADAR measurements in NY Harbor. NortekUSA was contracted to supply the full ATON System and provide training and installation services. NortekUSA collaborated with OceanTechUSA for training and installation support.
