Senior Design Projects
ChE SENIOR DESIGN PROGRAM
It is the goal of the program to develop an annual portfolio of outstanding senior design projects for senior chemical engineering students. In so far as possible the portfolio will contain a mix of projects represented by those that are industry sponsored, those that are oriented to faculty research and interests, and those entrepreneurial projects suggested by students. It is the goal to develop these by the end of the spring semester preceding the senior year. If possible some team captains should begin these projects in the summer between the junior and senior year by working as industrial interns or Technogenesis scholars. All projects should conform as closely as possible to most, if not all, of the School of Engineering Guidelines for senior design projects. Multidisciplinary projects will be especially developed if circumstances allow.

The Sponsored Senior Design Program provides an opportunity for engineering students to round out their education by completing a major design project, typically spanning the two semesters of their final year. Students work in teams of up to four, although larger teams can be assembled where warranted by the scope of the project. The scope of the project is decided in discussion between the sponsor and a Stevens senior design coordinator. A suitable project is one that provides value to the sponsor, is appropriate to the time scale and meets the academic requirements of the program.

Stevens' faculty members with expertise in the field(s) of the project, together with a liaison from the sponsor, provide joint supervision of the groups. After an initial proposal developed by the student team is accepted, feedback to the sponsor is typically maintained by several site visits.
