| SSoE Curriculum Outcomes Assessment Procedure | |
Curriculum Outcomes assessment will be performed each year at the beginning of the fall term.
- Collect information for all CORE COURSES:
- Student Performance Assessment Data (SPAD) Form
- Instructor Course Assessment (ICA) Form
- Course surveys
Also, collect Program Assessment Summary forms for each engineering program
- Perform steps 1 to 3 of the procedure in PROGRAM OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT.DOC as if the core courses constituted a separate engineering program, with the Curriculum Outcomes taking the place of Program Outcomes. Distribute the resulting OSM and ICA forms to the Program Directors for their use in Program Assessment.
- Fill out the Curriculum Outcomes Assessment Summary Form (essentially the same as the Program Outcomes Assessment Summary form). Send a copy to the EAC and the UECC. These committees evaluate the recommendations on the forms and responds to program concerns.
- The Undergraduate Engineering Curriculum Committee (UECC) should then meet to review the results from above together with the "Recommendations for changes to the core curriculum" portion of the Program Assessment Summary forms from the individual programs. They should then decide if changes proposed by the instructor at the course level are sufficient, or if changes to the core curriculum or Curriculum Outcomes are called for.
- The SoE Engineering Assessment Committee (EAC) should meet to discuss whether changes need to be made to the Assessment Procedure. For example, the EAC should examine whether each outcome is assessed in an adequate number of courses or in high-enough level courses.
- Present the results and the UECC proposals to the rest of the SoE Faculty.
- Once a consensus is arrived at, implement any changes that have been agreed on.
- Summarize the results using the Program Outcomes Assessment Summary Form.
