SSE's Larson, Verma, and Sellers lead authors in latest Space Technology Series: Applied Space Systems EngineeringDr. Wiley Larson, Program Director, Space Systems Engineering, Dr. Dinesh Verma, Dean, School of Systems and Enterprises, and Dr. Jerry Sellers, Teaching Science and Technology, Inc. (TSTI) and SSE Space Systems Adjunct Faculty, are lead authors in the 17th volume of the Space Technology Series, Applied Space Systems Engineering, a cooperative effort of the United States Department of Defense, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), published by McGraw Hill Learning Solutions.
Dr. Wiley Larson, Program Director, Space Systems Engineering program at Stevens, is also the Space Technology Series editor for the US Air Force Academy’s Space Mission Analysis and Design Project.
The purpose of Applied Space Systems Engineering is to provide inspiration, processes, approaches, tools, and information for systems engineers that are leading the way in complex aerospace system design, development, and operation. The extensive author and editor team created this book based on a complete and rigorous set of systems engineer competencies rooted in the experiences and philosophies of seasoned space systems engineers from across the community. The “best of the best” performing system engineers have contributed their wealth of experience, successful tools and approaches, and lessons learned to this project. This book presents the “how-to” necessary to “systems engineer” complex aerospace-related projects, along with information to help the aspiring or current systems engineer achieve a higher level of understanding and performance. It’s geared to practitioners as they work through projects, but may also serve as a primary text or reference for graduate-level courses and development programs. Many aerospace-related case studies, examples, and lessons learned are spread throughout ASSE to provide historical insights and practical applications.
Dr. Michael Pennotti, SSE Associate Dean of Academic Programs, and Bruce Barker, Industry Professor, together with SSE Adjunct Faculty members, Dr. Randy Liefer, Dr. Pete Swan and Dr. Peter VanWirt, also served as contributing chapter authors to the publication.
A companion text, Applied Project Management for Space Systems, is also available.
