Tal Ben-ZviBack

Professor Ben Zvi, Recipient of the Technology Instruction Development and Business Case Award, Workshop on Information Technology Systems - WITS (2008), conducts research in the areas of Decision Analysis, Network Modeling, Simulations, and Operations Management. His innovative decision analysis models have primarily involved studying games in order to examine the properties of human decision making in a competitive environment..

Dr. Zvi’s research consists of games in which several players with multiple objectives act in a complex environment. This work can help provide answers to sociotechnologic systems questions such as: How is human decision-making affected by interaction with other groups of individuals (e.g., organizations, companies) or semiautomatic machines? Why do some succeed in promoting cooperation while others suffer from conflict? What is the sine qua non for cooperation?

The use of Game Theory to mathematically examine human behavior in competitive situations has become an often-used tool for analyzing real-life conflicts, and can help explain conflicts in business, management and international relations. His work has resulted in contributions to various publications, industry journals and conference proceedings, and in 2006 he received the Strauss-Elite Grant, for his work in Simulation of Innovation Networks.
