International Graduate Student Registration

F-1/J-1 Visa Requirements
International Student and Scholar Services

All new International Students must check in with ISSS prior to being allowed to enroll. Students holding F-1 or J-1 Visas must enroll for a minimum of 9.0 credits and/or 3 courses each Fall or Spring semester unless one of the following circumstances exist and a Certification of Full-Time Enrollment Form is approved and on file with the International Student and Scholars Services office: F-1 or J-1 Visas holders are not required to be enrolled during the Summer Sessions.

Study Plans

An approved Study Plan is necessary for all international students prior to enrolling for the first time. Only courses shown on your approved Study Plan will count toward your degree requirements. Study Plan forms can be found in the Registrar's Forms page and need to be approved by your advisor.

Please send approved Study Plans to the Registrar's Office (Fax: 201.216.8030). You may modify your Study Plan at any time with the approval of your Faculty Advisor.

Registration

Once you have checked in with ISSS and have submitted your Study Plan, we encourage you to enroll on-line using Web for Students. If you have not used Web for Students before, click here for some basic instructions on how to log in. With Web for Students, students can view their own academic requirements and records, change their personal information, view grades and transcripts, view their account statement and make payments. Web for Students is available Monday through Sunday 7:00AM to 4:45AM (EDT).

Enrollment forms, in Adobe Acrobat format, are available for download at The Registrar's Form page. Enrollment forms can be submitted to the Student Service Center (Fax: 201.216.8050) or The Registrar's Office (Fax: 201.216.8030).

ID Cards

Health Insurance Requirements

All full-time students and all international students on a J-1 or F-1 visa are required to have health insurance. All full-time students will be charged for health insurance unless a waiver is applied for. Information on the policy and waivers is available on the Web at http://www.universityhealthplans.com. Please review the brochure for payment information on dependent coverage.

Health Services Requirements

All new full time students are required to fill out a Student Health Record Form. More information can be found at the Health Services web site where you can find information on student immunization requirements and meningitis disease.

One of the many Stevens resources available to students is Health Services. These services include health promotion and disease prevention, care during acute and chronic phases of illness, and referrals to outside providers when appropriate.
