Meeting Called to Order: 8:32 PM

We have set a deadline for all submissions that deadline is October 22, 2007

  • AB: Why is the deadline so soon?
  • Answer: We want the magazine to be here before finals start this semester. We aim to have the magazine sent to the printer by November 13, and hopefully will receive the magazines by Novembe 26
  • TL: How do we submit?
  • Answer: Email to redshift@stevens.edu

We've gotten a lot of great art submissions

There really aren't many restrictions on what we'll accept

We are looking for an artist to design a cover page to us

  • This might determine the theme for the layout as well
  • We'd like the cover of Red Shift to represent the combination of both visual and written work

We're opening spots for editors and publicity representative

  • Visual Editors
  • Written Editors
  • Layout (familiarity with InDesign is a plus
  • Ad Revenue Generation
  • Greg Bosch would like to be a prose editor
  • Sheeraz Hyderwould like to be an arts editor
  • Andrew Bjerke:editor of anything

We will be having a creative workshop this Sunday, October 30 at 7:00 PM in P 220

  • We're looking to have someone to perhaps lecture us on art / writing
  • Possibly having guided creativity sessions

We will be having an Open Mic Night. We're hoping to have things more planned out than last year.

If you'd like to actively participate in any of these events please let us know.

Tom Lakatos: Will plug Red Shift on his radio show
Abel Alvarez: When you plug redshift make sure that you be brief and mention our website

Regina Pynn: There are venues on campus where visual artwork can be framed and displayed. For example, the school nurse wants art with a wellness theme.

Kyle Yandell: Have you thought about using the campus mail to distribute?
Abel Alvarez: We want to get it out to as many people as possible. We may do this in the future.

Elliot Sadlon: Are people able to submit via the website.
Frank Riccobono: Not Yet.

Rachel Rolfe: Sinnreich-Levi thinks its a great idea. She's willing to forward posters to the department. We can visit her classes during her classes and distribute and speak to her students. Professor Wharton said the same thing.
Regina Pynn: We want to know when their classes are and what they are.

Regina Pynn: Erin Selby is now our faculty advisor.

Elliot Sadlon: Get all of the editors together to organize how things are going to be done.
Regina Pynn: We will email everyone who has agreed to help with editing.

Elliot Sadlon: What's going on with putting Red Shifts in accessible locations.
Regina Pynn: We've put some Red Shifts in the Stute distribution rack.
Briana Gilmartin: ML said we could last year. This year he told us we didn't ask permission. He wanted to make sure we asked for permission.
Regina Pynn: I sent him a nice email officially asking him. He did not reply. We're assuming that means he's okay with it for the moment.
Elliot Sadlon: We should still put copies on the table by the post office

Jessica Foldhazy: We should post something in the newsletter about looking for editors and layout

Meeting Closed: 9:10 PM.

it's not about money.
It's about feeling free to do what I want.
It's about to find someone that appreciates my work.
