Technogenesis® Research and Entrepreneurship Day At Stevens Institute of Technology

Technogenesis® Annual Research and Entrepreneurship Day will be held on May 8, 2009 at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.  Featured keynote speakers Matthew Clark (DOC 11.3 KB), Department of Homeland Security’s University Programs Director, David S. Rose (DOC 11.7 KB), Angelsoft’s Chairman and CEO, and Kelly Miller (DOC 11.3 KB), Chief Information Officer at NSA, will highlight topics on emerging leading-edge technology-to-market commercialization.

Stevens Institute of Technology, a hotbed of technological innovation, showcases Research and Entrepreneurship Day for nascent academic technologies that frequently seed profitable start-up companies and defense needs.  Industry, venture capital, and government representatives are expected to attend seeking to exploit opportunities for new ideas and partnership.

Christos Christodoulatos, Associate Provost and Director of the Office for Academic Entrepreneurship, reports “Research and Entrepreneurship Day offers an educational frontier where faculty, students and industry can jointly explore innovative research.”   “It is more than technology transfer,” comments Christodoulatos.  “It’s part of Stevens’ educational experience creating a climate of innovation and enterprise across campus.”  The Associate Provost works with faculty across departments and schools to promote Technogenesis®.

This year the major research clusters are presented along with our two national centers, the National Center for Secure and Resilient Maritime Commerce and Coastal Environments and the Systems Engineering Research Center.  Research and Entrepreneurship Day attendees can participate in lively discussions with research faculty and enjoy technology demonstrations,  tours of Stevens Research Centers, and the technology pitch Olympics from our student-entrepreneurs.

Stevens Institute of Technology’s approach to entrepreneurship has fostered several spin-off companies in environmental, medical, security, and sensing technology.  Current start-ups include SPOC, Inc., a pain management system; Attilla Technologies, LLC, an intelligent multi-network radio-router; InSteam Media, LLC, an embedded interactive digital advertising system; and Predator Vision, LLC, a multi-spectral security camera that combines thermal sensitivity and digital resolution.  Two environmental spin-offs, Hydroglobe and PlasmaSol, have respectively commercialized arsenic absorption and disinfection technology.
