2014 I&E Summer Scholars Projects - College of Arts & Letters

1. VIDEO ANALYTICS WITH BELL LABS

This project is concerned with the development of a 'game-like' interactive interface for public installation. We will be working closely with Bell Labs on the development and usage of software for tracking group behavior in public settings, with the objective of creating an engaging multimedia environment for large scale public installation. This project will serve as great experience for all students interested in working on large scale interdisciplinary projects with high visibility clients.

Student #1: Project Manager
Knowledge of project management principles including scrum and agile project management strongly preferred.

Student #2: Developer/Programmer(s)
Knowledge of C++ and/or Python, with an interest in gaming and gaming platforms.

Student #3: System Tester
Detailed-oriented person with experience in interface design and programming desired.

Student #4: Visual Designer(s)
Experience with user interface and or user experience development and applications required. Knowledge of design principles, prototyping, and user testing preferred.

2. GAME APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT FRO PRUDENTIAL & DRUMTHWACKET FOUNDATION

This project is concerned with the development of a mobile game application featuring New Jersey inventors and inventions. Over the course of the summer term, we will develop a functional mobile game application that will be delivered to the clients, Prudential and the Drumthwacket Foundation, at the conclusion of the summer research period. The objective of this project will be to develop an engaging learning game environment that will appeal to a broad audience. This project will serve as great experience for all students interested in working on multidisciplinary mobile application development projects with high visibility clients.

Student #1: Project Manager

Student #2: Mobile ApplicationDeveloper/Programmer(s)
Knowledge of Objective C and/or Java development for Android, with an interest in mobile gaming and gaming platforms.

Student #3: System Tester
Detailed-oriented person with experience in interface design and programming desired.

Student #4: Visual/ User Interface Designer(s)
Experience with user interface and or user experience development and applications required. Knowledge of design principles, prototyping, and user testing preferred.

Student #5: Game Music Designer
Experience with music composition and interest in researching best practices in development of music for gaming applications required.
