Please join me in welcoming Dr. Werner Kuhr as the new Technology Commercialization Director in the Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Werner will lead the continuing development and exploitation of the University's intellectual property portfolio and will play a significant role in implementing the innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives of the Stevens Strategic Plan. Werner will work with faculty, students and external stakeholders to create new initiatives that enhance our technology commercialization activities.
Werner is an accomplished scientist-entrepreneur with a diverse background that spans the academic and commercial worlds. He has held faculty positions at UC Riverside California and the University of Colorado where his research was focused on new developments in electrochemical sensors and chemical sampling of bioactive ingredients in foods and other consumables using novel sensors, chromatography and microfluidic devices. Werner has also been involved in various start-up ventures as an extension of his university research. He served as a technical advisor for Clinical MicroSensors, which was acquired by Motorola. Werner founded and served as VP of Research and IP Manager for ZettaCore which was acquired by a major international corporation in 2011. Most recently he served as the IP Manager for eSionic Corp and ChemiSensor LLP.
Werner is an alumnus with both B.S.and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from Stevens and he earned his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from Indiana University.
