| Class of 2013Major: Biomedical Engineering Extra Curricular Activities: Biomedical Engineers Society, Sigma Phi Epsilon (House Manager), Stevens Ambassador, Intramural: Soccer, Football, Floor Hockey Advice You’d Like to Share with the Class of 2013: “Do not get overwhelmed in the first week or month. Get organized and keep track of the weekly homework and everything else will fall into place. Also get out there and get involved right away; you only have 4 or 5 years here.” My Best Study Tip: “Math: try to do the homework early so you can see the areas you need help with and learn by asking questions in lecture and recitation that week. Also go to the test reviews. Chemistry: Get a tutor, they’re FREE, and do the example problems in the chapters to identify confusing areas. Also go to the test reviews they are ESSENTIAL for chemistry especially. Physics: Use a white board and create an equation sheet for each section because physics is all equations. As the equations become familiar the problems will make more sense. Go to the reviews or do the reviews on Masteringphysics (you’ll know what it is soon enough and you’ll hate it too).” My Time Management Strategy: "Make a schedule of your week and identify plenty of time when you want to study and definite recreation times where you want to do specific activities. Soon you can cut down the study time as you learn what each class needs." Resources at Stevens I’ve Used: Tutors, Academic Success Seminars offered by the Academic Support Center, Test Reviews, Writing Center What I Like Best About Stevens: “Everyone is a computer genius. I came in computer competent but the use of computers in the course work and the depth of knowledge many students have makes it unavoidable to learn way more about computers than you ever wanted to know. Now I am going home and doing tech support on all my family and friends computers.” |
