| Class of 2010Major: Computer Engineering Extra Curricular Activities: Bowling Club, Alpha Sigma Phi National Fraternity Advice You’d Like to Share with the Class of 2013: “The only advice I can give that might be of any use would be to get into good habits early. College life is a mix of routine and improvisation…good habits propagate and are easily adapted to new situations, bad habits also propagate, but are difficult to change…so start college off on the right foot.” My Best Study Tip: “Use the library to study…don’t bother trying to study in your room. The desks in the library are big and you can spread your stuff out. Also, not to mention, your friends won’t be distracting you there. Again, studying and homework skills are going to be important later on, so start getting in the “swing” of studying early on.” My Time Management Strategy: “Schoolwork always comes first, obviously. Additionally, if at all possible, try to start working on assignments a few days before they are due, in order to get in a good habit of not having to rush to get things done at the last minute. If you can ever say to yourself “I have nothing to do…” or “I’m bored…”, that’s the perfect time to do homework. Even if you don’t have any homework, read the textbook, it helps…” Resources at Stevens I’ve Used: The Office of Career Development What Do I Like Best About Stevens: “Having been out working for a real engineering company, and seeing how other students from other schools can only address the narrow concerns of their concentration when dealing with a larger, more complex problem, I’m pleased to know that I have some background in the areas that most schools don’t provide to unrelated majors. For example, computer engineers here take classes like Thermodynamics and Materials Processing.” |
