Don’t be afraid to ask help of peers and older students.” My Best Study Tip: “Go to class and pay attention and learn as you go, often times professors will give hints as to what will be on the tests. Do your homework, don’t skim over it or skip it completely, it will help you learn the material in the long run. These will help you avoid having to cram the night before an exam so you can get enough sleep and eat a decent breakfast/meal the day of the exam.” My Time Management Strategy: “Be efficient. Know when your free time is so that you can get things done when you can, even if you’re working on an assignment 15 minutes here or 15 minutes there. Also, find a place where you are most productive, claim it as yours, and go there all the time. More efficiency to get your work done means more play time later.” Resources at Stevens I’ve Used: Older peers. Classmates. TAs and Professors – I have gone to professors for one on one teaching in classes I am struggling in or am not comfortable in and they are very happy to answer questions until you understand. Sometimes one on one teaching with a TA or Professor will help you because they will be able to explain a topic more in depth which would explain it better than they would in class. What I Like Best About Stevens: “I like the small friendly atmosphere. Our classes are in classrooms, not lecture halls. Professors and Faculty know us by name and face. I can’t cross campus without seeing a face I recognize. It’s a gorgeous campus with so many opportunities off campus. I love the grass and big windows and trees – you can’t tell you’re in a city till you go off campus.” |
