Advice You’d Like to Share with the Class of 2013:   “Learn to take full advantage of Stevens and what it has to offer.  College is what you make of it.  Get involved and meet as many people around campus as you can.  We are a tight knit community where you can always find something that interests you.”

My Best Study Tip:   “Do the homework even if you don’t have to turn it in and don’t copy!  Homework problems are assigned for a reason and if you learn the material as you go, you won’t need to do any heavy cramming right before the test.  Also, if you are having trouble, don’t be shy to ask for a tutor.  They are free and can be a big help.  Just try to do the work first and bring questions to them.  Their job is not to do the work for you.”

My Time Management Strategy:  “Balance is everything.  Although it is important to have fun and spend time with friends, taking some nights off from the social life and cranking out the books will go a long way.  Yes, even if this means staying in on Friday or Saturday night.  There will always be more opportunities for fun but for tests and assignments, you only have a one time shot.”

Resources at Stevens I’ve Used:

  • Old tests- Ask older students that have already taken the class for their old tests.  Professors often don’t change them that much.  If nothing else, you at least learn the formatting.
  • Classmates- Many teachers don’t mind if you work on homework with other people.  Combining brain power often helps you get through the work faster and you can learn a lot by bouncing ideas off each other.  Just make sure you are still doing the work and not just getting answers.
  • Professors/Teachers Assistants- These individual are often very willing to help students wherever they can.  They are not here to fail you.  They want students to succeed and if they see you putting in the effort upfront, it goes a long way come the end of the semester when you are borderline on your grade.

What Do I Like Best About Stevens:  “I love when I walk through campus I can say hi to most of the people I see.  I feel very connected and part of something.
