| Class of 2011Major: Business and Technology Extra Curricular Activities: Varsity Wrestling; Orientation Leader; Resident Assistant Alternate; Brother of Beta Theta Pi; Intramural Sports; and last but not least, Peer Mentor! Advice You’d Like to Share with the Class of 2013: “Go out and make an effort to meet everyone in your class. Stevens is not a very large school, so we benefit from our tight knit community. But you have to go out and meet everyone to reap the benefits.” My Best Study Tip: “Personally, I struggled the most freshman year with Calculus. I definitely underestimated how tough it was going to be. Keep up with the work, it is not fun to try and catch up once you find yourself behind on your work or your studying (I can attest to that). But as long as you stay on top of things (getting ahead of the game isn’t a bad idea either) you will find that everything is manageable as long as you put in the effort!” My Time Management Strategy: “I like to develop my own weekly routine. After a week or two you will realize what your schedule is and when things are due. I like to have a set day in which I work on a specific class. For example, last year Monday for me was Romantic American Literature and Physics day (yay!). I also frequently put notes on my laptop as to-do lists or reminders.” Resources at Stevens I’ve Used: Stevens has a great tutoring program in which an upper classman will help you with the subject you are having trouble with. I benefited from having a tutor help me with Calculus my freshman year. What I Like Best About Stevens: “I love the location. Hoboken is a great little town with so much to do. We also have the option to take a 10-15 minute PATH ride to the city. I like the small class sizes, where you get more interaction with the faculty (my friend at Rutgers had over 200 people in his chem. lecture; imagine trying to get a professor’s attention there!). I’m also an athlete and I love the amount of varsity sports we have. I enjoy going to all of our team’s games and rooting on the ducks. I would also go crazy if I had to sit in my room with nothing to do, and that is certainly not the case here. With organizations like the Entertainment Committee, there is always something to do on campus, so luckily I can keep my sanity while eliminating my boredom.” |
