Advice you’d like to share with the Incoming Class: Coming into College you will be faced with many situations that may be new and uncomfortable to you. My advice to you is to just jump right in, don’t be scared to get your feet wet. Get involved with one or two clubs or activities that you are passionate about. It is a great way to meet new people right away and most likely form friendships with students that have similar interests.
MY BEST STUDY TIP: Make sure that you realize you are not the only one taking the classes you are. I have found over the years that I have achieved more success when working with other students while studying. The truth is that you may not be able to answer every question but if you surround yourself with other bright students they may be able to help you if you are stuck. I have always viewed Stevens as one big boat that we all are riding together, so realize that from day one and take advantage of those on board. That being said always be willing to help others as well because teaching is a great way to learn.
My Time Management Strategy: I find my best time management strategy is keeping to an organized calendar. I use my Google calendar for all the events I have each week. This way I am able to visualize what my schedule looks like. As long as I stick to my schedule I feel less stress and anxiety when my schedule gets busy.
Resources at Stevens I’ve Used: Since Stevens is a smaller school you have the opportunity for a more personalized experience. Make sure to use the resources provided to you. Nothing in life will just come to you because you are a good person. Make sure that you are always going to it. I have used both the Steven’s Co-op Office and our Career Development Office very often to make sure that I am on a career path that will lead to my success. I have also used the Study Abroad office in order to go to Australia this past spring. I have even used Academic Support Center to get a tutor in a subject when I needed help. Finally, I use the Office of Student Life often in order to make sure that my Fraternity is doing all that it can for our campus and living up to the high standards of the office.
What Do You Like Best About Stevens? What I like best about Stevens is that it gives you an amazing opportunity to shine. At Stevens, you are able to take many different avenues of success. At larger schools it is hard to shine because there are so many people. However, at a smaller school you are able to really shine if you put your mind to it. I like the ability to make a difference in my community.
