Advice you’d like to share with the Incoming Class: Experience new things- College is a time to figure out who you are, don’t be afraid to try new things, or to let go of old things. Don’t let grades get you down- Getting the A is not going to be as easy as high school, don’t get frustrated with test scores, get to know your professors and your Teaching Assistants. Find out what study strategies work for you. Have Fun- You have four years, but it goes quickly!
MY BEST STUDY TIP: Go to class- many students don’t feel it’s necessary, but professors often drop hints during class, and it’s a great starting point for studying. Classes with web assignments- don’t wait till the last minute to do them, convenience can cost. Use your resources- If you get stuck on a topic, don’t accept defeat, concepts often build on each other so talk to other students, get a tutor, meet with your professor/TA.
My Time Management Strategy: Procrastination happens to the best of us, try making study plans- it’s easier to say no to things when it only affects you. Keep track of assignments and due dates- it’s easy to lose track of things especially when assignments start to stack up.
