Advice you’d like to share with the Incoming Class: Don’t be afraid to ask for help and talk to the teachers.  The teachers want to help you so that you can succeed.  Also, make the most of every opportunity available to you at Stevens.  There are so many opportunities available that even choosing one will make your experience at Stevens better than before.  The more you get out of Stevens, the more you will learn and excel in the real world.  Don’t be afraid to try new things and meet new people.  College goes by very quickly, so make the most of it.

MY BEST STUDY TIP:Do the extra problems the teachers assign you.  These are the types of problems that are on the tests and will help you prepare for the tests.  Also, don’t wait until the day before the test to start studying.  Try to start at least several days beforehand.

My Time Management Strategy:   I try to start my assignments when I find out about them and get them done ahead of time.  I try not to wait until the day before they are due to complete them.  I set a certain time each day for studying or doing homework.  I also know when I have meetings or practice so that I can plan my studying time around them.  Having a calendar with all of my classes, meetings, and practices blocked off allows me to visualize the time in the day I have for studying.  I can then determine when I will have time to study and which assignment needs to be done first.  It also helps me never miss a class or meeting.

Resources at Stevens I’ve Used: My teachers, archive website for old exams, co-op office, career development office, library, tutoring center, upperclassmen, work study, Scholars research program

What Do You Like Best About Stevens? I like the fact that it’s a small school, the teachers can easily know you by name, and you know almost everyone in your class.  Also, you can get the excitement of a big city life without having to live in the city.  New York City is only a 15 minute PATH train ride away that allows you to explore the city and the activities that it has to offer.  There are also many other options at Stevens and in Hoboken that you can participate in that allow you to occupy your time with something you enjoy doing.
