Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship Program

Fall 2009/Academic Year 2009-2010 Application Open - Deadline: April 7, 2009

Gilman International Scholarship provides awards of up to $5000 for U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad for up to one academic year. The program aims to diversify the kinds of student who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go. The program serves students who have been under-represented in study abroad which includes but is not limited to: students with high financial need, community college students, students in under-represented fields such as the sciences and engineering, students with diverse ethnic backgrounds, students attending minority-serving institutions, and students with disabilities.

The Gilman Program is pleased to be able to offer over 1200 scholarships during the Academic Year 2009-2010. Additionally, an increased number of $3000 Critical Need Language Supplements are avialable for students studying a critical need language for a total possible award of $8000. Eligibility: Students must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application or during the time they are studying abroad and cannot be studying abroad in a country currently under a U.S. Department of State Travel Warning or in Cuba.

Summer Programs at University of Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)

Live and learn in muticultural Malaysia through the UKM Global Student Mobility Partnerships 4 week program on Indigenous Communities or Sustainability of Tropical Heritage. The cost of each program is estimated at $1300 + airfare. The course is 4 credits pending transfer credit approval by Stevens.

Global Development Internship 2009

Student Movement for Real Change (SMRC) seeks college students to participate in it's annual Global Development Internship (GDI) program in South Africa or Kenya during the summer of 2009.

GDI aims to provide college students on-the-ground development experience, cultural immersion and the necessary skills needed to develop sustainable projects that address local needs.

Applications are due by Decemeber 31st.
