The Stevens academic calendar is based on the semester system. The unit of credit is the credit hour. A credit hour represents one 50 minute class period (or its equivalent in other forms of instruction) each week in the semester for lectures or two to three 50-minute class periods for each week in the semester for laboratory or recitation. Each credit hour requires a minimum of two hours of out-of-classroom work. A minimum of 750 minutes of instruction or equivalent is required for each credit hour.
