Stevens Institute of Technology, The Innovation UniversityTM, is a private co-educational institution of higher learning founded in 1870. Stevens is located on a 55-acre campus in Hoboken, New Jersey. It overlooks the Hudson River and has stunning views of the Manhattan skyline of New York City.
At present, Stevens consists of three schools and one college: the Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management (STM), the Charles V. Schaefer Jr. School of Engineering and Sciences (SES), the School of Systems and Enterprises (SSE) and the College of Arts and Letters (CAL). The College of Arts and Letters offers a single Bachelor of Arts degree, a double Bachelor of Arts degree, an undergraduate minor, and a Master's degree program. The remaining three schools individually offer Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees. The Institute also offers multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary programs at the graduate level. Stevens also maintains research centers involved in niche areas which support its academic mission.
At the undergraduate level Stevens offers four-year full-time and five-year cooperative educational experiences leading to Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, and Bachelor of Arts degrees. Undergraduate courses are taught in the traditional classroom mode.
At the graduate level Stevens offers Master's degrees in science, engineering, and technology management on campus, primarily during the evening hours. Stevens also offers off-campus programs at industrial and government sites, and it offers many Master's programs in the online mode through its Web Campus effort. Most of our PhD students study full-time on campus. Interdisciplinary Master's programs and interdisciplinary PhD programs are also available. |

On October 3, 2011, President Farvardin announced to the Stevens community the launch of a comprehensive strategic planning exercise for Stevens Institute of Technology. This will build upon the hard work and accomplishments of numerous dedicated members of the community and chart a road map for Stevens’ ascent over the next decade. To effect this, President Farvardin has formed the Strategic Plan Steering Committee representing diverse constituencies: trustees, faculty, staff, students, administrators, and alumni. Sponsors and friends of Stevens will also be included in this planning initiative.
The purpose of the resulting plan is to steer Stevens towards a destination that places a premium on excellence in everything it does: its educational programs, its research and innovation activities, the values it instills in the members of the community, its technology commercialization programs, and its impact on the State, the region, our nation, and the world. As we develop this plan, we will take advantage of our strategic enablers and advantages: the pivotal role that a technology centered university like Stevens can and must play in addressing our increasingly complex societal problems; our location at the epicenter of the corporate and cultural world, offering unparalleled opportunities for partnerships; our ability to move quickly and nimbly in responding to opportunities consistent with our strategies and focus; our extraordinarily-successful alumni; and the rising importance of, and demand for, a technology savvy workforce.
