The
following events are on the Spring 2004 calendar:
Wednesday, April 21, 2004 - Day of Silence
The
day of silence project aims to promote awareness by asking
participants to participate in a 9-hour silence pledge. Participants
silence themselves deliberately, just as gay, lesbian, bisexual,
and transgender people, and their straight allies, are silenced
on a daily basis by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination.
This powerful protest urges everyone who witnesses it to ask
themselves what they can do to end the silence.
How
to participate:
- Obtain
Speaking Cards. Speaking Cards are given out to
promote awareness of why you are silent for the day. Get
speaking cards at Jacobus Hall, Student Life, or during
select times on Tuesday outside of Pierce Dinning Hall.
Of course, you can always print the cards yourself by downloading
the PDF below (requires Adobe Acrobat reader).
- Join
us for a meeting that Wednesday - 2pm in Jacobus Conference
Room (Second Floor). For a brief time, we will
break the silence to discuss how we can improve the campus
atmosphere, and move forward with Pride@Stevens. This meeting
is open to anyone, and participants, as well as topics discussed
will be kept confidential. This meeting marks an alliance
of GLBTQ students and faculty, and their straight allies.
- Join
our eMail list.
Joining is fast and easy (click the Join
link above). All members will join confidentially, and their
names, eMail addresses, or any other personal information
will be not be disclosed to the public or other members
of the club.
