All donations will benefit the Hoboken Homeless Shelter

HOBOKEN , N.J. —

Stevens Institute of Technology’ Center for Performing Art s at DeBaun Auditorium is proud present four performances of A Christmas Carol. This year’s production will be held on December 15 at 8:00 p.m. , December 16 at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. , and December 17 at 3:00 p.m. For 182 years, people have held Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol as an integral part of their holiday tradition. The Center for the Performing Art s is keeping this tradition alive by presenting the holiday production on three separate days.

A Christmas Carol is the story of an old, bitter miser – Ebenezer Scrooge – and his chance for redemption after being visited by three ghosts and a partner from the past who has learned his lesson too late. With traditional carols and English folk tunes creating the proper atmosphere, the world of Scrooge, Fezziwig and Tiny Tim comes alive, igniting the holiday spirit for young and old alike.

Adapted by John Mortimer for the Royal Shakespeare Company, this version of A Christmas Carol will spark wonder and memories for all, with holiday visions Directed by Jen Salez, who directed and choreographed last season’s blockbuster Anything Goes for The Center. Joining Salez are Assistant Director: Missy Cleary, Music Director: Sue Chandler and Stage Manager: Sean McClafferty.

The cast of A Christmas Carol is peppered with some new performers to the DeBaun stage like Paul Berman, Daniel Cavagnaro, Nicolette Corrado, Erika Creagh, Selena Gonzalez, Sara Hogrefe, Anne sa H. Lau and Tim Watson, as well as some returnees like Chris Ayers, Joe D’Andrea, Elizabeth Devlin, Lauren Fuchs, Peyton Kennedy and Jim Maloney . Leading them all, however, in a tour-de-force performance is Michael Blake, who breathes new life into the miserly character of “Scrooge.” Michael has appeared Off-Broadway in Larry, My Friend (Larry) at The Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York . Other New York City credits include The Madwoman of Chaillot (Ragpicker), Fiorello (Ben Marino) and Camelot (Pellinore).

An additional holiday tradition of The Center is to provide support to The Hoboken Shelter, a local charitable organization that provides accommodations for 50 people and feeds 80 to 100 people every evening. At each production of A Christmas Carol, The Center will collect monetary donations from audience members who would like to aid The Hoboken Shelter in supporting their mission to prevent homelessness and to assist homeless men and women re-integrate into the community. Last year, with only two performances, The Center was able to collect $850 for the shelter and with the addition of two more performances this year they aim to collect more.
