Stevens and SAS co-present analytic competency seminar

Event topics include how to leverage data to generate profit

HOBOKEN , N.J. — Stevens Institute of Technology and SAS Institute, Inc., will co-present the Fall 2006 seminar series, “Building Analytic Competency: Everything You Wanted to Know.” The event will take place on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 from 3:30 to 7:00pm in the Babbio Center , room 122.

Many college graduate programs that use quantitative research choose to use SAS as their analytical tool. The presentation is a networking event to launch Stevens’ new Knowledge Management/Data Mining Certificate and MSIS and MBS concentration. The seminar will cover topics such as how to leverage data to generate profit.

Representatives from SAS, industry and Stevens will discuss the increasing importance of analyzing and leveraging data for competitive advantage. Speakers include Jeff Lynch, Vice President of Global Consumer Economic & Regulatory at Capital Citigroup; Margaret Coughlin, Manger of Statistical Programming BioStatistics and Research Decision Sciences at Merck; Ron Scala, Director of Customer Knowledge at 1-800-Flowers.

SAS is a leader in business intelligence software and the world’s largest privately held software company and 96 of the top 100 companies on Fortune’s Global 500 use its software. More than 25 local companies, such as FEDEX Corp. and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital use its technology. The software allows businesses to transform vast amounts of date into practical information, enabling those businesses to analyze everything from production quantities to the impact of advertising in specific markets.
