HOBOKEN, N.J. — The Department of Art, Music and Technology at Stevens Institute of Technology will host a performance by do-it-yourself tech pioneers, LoVid, Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 3:30 to 5:00 in the Babbio Center , room 104. Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus of LoVid also will discuss their interdisciplinary work, including handmade hardware video instruments, video recordings and performances, textiles, collages and other wall hangings, installations and sculptures.
LoVid’s interest in handmade audio/video synthesizers was inspired by the work of pioneer artist-engineers from decades past. In addition, their interest in current explorations in hacking and software art has put them in the forefront of the DIY cultural phenomenon. LoVid will also address methods of distribution and funding of media art. LoVid has toured the US and Europe and will be artists-in-residence at Stevens this year.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Don Massoni at dmassoni@stevens.edu.
