HOBOKEN , N.J. — Stevens Institute of Technology physics professor Kurt H. Becker was appointed to the editorial board of The European Physical Journal Dfor a five-year term starting January 1, 2006 . The European Physical Journal (www.eurphysj.org) was created five years ago under the sponsorship of the European Physical Society (www.eps.org) through a merger of three prestigious physics journals, Zeitschrift für Physik, Le Journal de Physique, and Il Nuovo Cimento. The European Physical Journal D, whose editors-in-chief are Professor F.A. Gianturco ( University of Rome ) and Professor J.-M. Raimond (Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris), publishes original research articles, reviews and rapid notes in all areas of atomic, molecular, optical and plasma physics.
Becker directs the Stevens Department of Physics in The Arthur E. Imperatore School of Arts and Sciences. He is also Associate Director of the Stevens Center for Environmental Systems in The Charles V. Schaefer School of Engineering. His research interests include atomic, molecular and chemical physics, as well non-thermal plasma physics, a field in which he is internationally renowned.
