Stevens Homecoming 2005 set for Saturday

HOBOKEN, N.J. — Stevens is set to open its doors for Homecoming 2005 on the school’s campus this Saturday, Sept. 24. What is quickly becoming a proud fall tradition, Homecoming will include festivities lasting all day and fun and games for all ages, concluding with an Alumni Reception in the evening.

It all begins bright an early with a Fun Run 5K around the Stevens campus scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Registration for the event will begin at 8 a.m. in the lobby of the Schaefer Center. The event is free for everyone.

The Schaefer Center will also be open for recreation activities for people of all ages, beginning at 9 a.m. and running through 6 p.m. Activities will include basketball, swimming, volleyball and racquetball.

DeBaun Field will be the site of one of Stevens’ favorite traditions, the Homecoming Barbeque. The buffet-style lunch will be provided for all alumni and friends, beginning at noon near the entrance to the field.

After a hearty meal, fans can take a seat and watch some great soccer action at DeBaun Field. The women will kick things off with a 1 p.m. match against Drew University . The men will follow with a 4 p.m. match against New York Maritime College .

After a great day of watching the action on the field, it will be time for the alumni to participate. Stevens will hold the first-ever Coed Alumni Softball Game, slated to begin at 6 p.m. on DeBaun Field.  

The fun-filled day culminates in Stevens’ annual alumni reception. This year’s reception will take place at the 3 Forty Grill, one of Hoboken’s finest dining and entertainment establishments. The 3 Forty Grill is located at 340 Sinatra Drive. The cost is $35 per person and will include an open bar and appetizers between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Payment will be collected at the Schaefer Center front desk between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Homecoming Day.

Alumni and friends are urged to come out and support one of the fastest growing fall traditions at Stevens.
