HOBOKEN, N.J. — At the Edwin A. Stevens Society Gala, held Dec.3 at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson, Stevens Institute of Technology President Harold J. Raveche announced the establishment of a scholarship fund in the name of the guest of honor and his wife, both residents of Wyckoff, N.J. The Stephen and Karen Boswell Scholarship fund, established through gifts made in the Boswells’ honor, kicked off with initial contributions of nearly $50,000.
During the gala, Dr. Boswell received the Schaefer Entrepreneur Award 2004, and in his acceptance remarks noted that the first Schaefer Award recipient, Henry J. Shotmeyer, Sr., now aged 101, had that very day made a generous additional contribution of $25,000 to Stevens scholarship funds. The Boswell Scholarship fund will go toward Stevens undergraduate scholarships in Civil Engineering.
“It is humbling to be counted in the company of past Schaefer Award recipients,” said Boswell, who thanked his parents for their good influence on his life and career, and his brothers, Bruce and Kevin, for their partnership with him during his years as President and CEO of Boswell Engineering. Boswell holds a doctorate in Environmental Engineering and a double master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Among the many charter contributors to the Boswell Scholarship fund are Mr. Martin Santini, FAIA, Ecoplan Architects; Mr. Stephen P. McCann, CPA, Schonbraun Safris McCann Bekritsky & Co., LLC; Mr. Steven M. Coppa, AIA, Comerro Coppa Architects, P.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sorentino III, FSS Construction, Inc.; Mr. Michael J.
